Dan Mulqueen shares about the HeHo Afterglow…
Often times, during handpan workshops especially at handpan festivals, I’ve found myself having to choose between teaching more composition techniques OR more technical playing…percussive integration OR melodic structure…within the setting of a 3-day immersion, I feel super lucky to have the opportunity to show many aspects of handpan playing while also having ample time to answer your most detailed and specific questions.
A major topic in my teaching is connecting composition with technique. I’m very passionate about this and my approach for the Heart+Land Immersion is to integrate pre-planned lessons with time to answer questions that come up during our sessions. We also have the added bonus of being at the festival together for the weekend - so if any questions come to you in your playing/practice during the weekend, I’ll be around to answer whatever I can!
I am beyond excited for the opportunity to co-facilitate the HeHo Afterglow Retreat with my good friends, Mar Loi & Amy Naylor, and to have the full support of Sarah, Addi and Max who are working tirelessly to put on another fantastic edition of Heartland Hangout! See you there!
